Medical Silicone Molding
Albright Technologies has been molding silicone prototype parts since 1995. We received our ISO 13485 certification in 2008 and had an ISO 13485 compliant Class 7 Controlled Environment Room installed in 2009.
Albright produces medical grade silicone rubber prototype parts in a variety of materials both LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) and HCR (High Consistency Rubber), these materials may be suitable for human contact, short term implantation (<30 days), and long term implantation (indefinite), these materials may also exhibit other unique properties and characteristics including, optical clarity, self-adhesion promoters, self-lubricating silicone oils, and can be loaded with colorants, and additives that allow for easier identification via various medical imaging modalities.
We can go from a part concept drawing to physical parts in as quickly as 3 business days. Standard delivery is 15 business days, but customers may opt for 10, 5, and 3 business day expedite options (part complexity and schedule permitting). Albright provides these services for medical device design engineers, medical device manufacturers, and medical grade production level molding facilities.
Albright has years of experience molding both implantable medical parts and medical devices, including:
- Punctal Plugs
- Cardiac Catheters
- Knuckle Implant
- Cardiac Valves
- Ocular Implants
- Neural Implants
- Sinus Rinse
- Medical Device Handles and Handle Overmolds
- Laparoscopic Lenses and other laparoscope components
- Dental and Orthodontic Devices
- Diagnostic Equipment Keypads, Gaskets, Etc.
There are many choices of medical grade silicone for the medical device designer. Medical grade silicone goes through rigorous testing to certify that it is a Class VI Silicone.
The rapid prototyping process developed by Albright Technologies gives our customers high quality, affordable liquid silicone molded parts in the shortest amount of time possible. We have optimized the tooling process for liquid silicone molding by stocking mold bases, simplifying mold design, and using high speed 3D machining. We can ship silicone molded parts in as little as one business day!
We specialize in molding liquid silicone for prototyping quantities, but we also have the ability to mold short-run quantities until production tooling is available.
We maintain a large inventory of liquid silicone from various major liquid silicone suppliers such as Wacker, Nusil, GE Silicones, and Dow Corning. If there is a special grade of liquid silicone that is required we can have it shipped overnight.
Custom Color Matching for Liquid Silicone
Custom color pigment dispersions for liquid silicone are available to match Pantone and RAL color samples and parts. We also stock many basic colors.
Liquid Silicone Bonding / Over Molding
We have extensive experience bonding liquid silicone to a variety of different types of metals as well as certain thermoplastics and silicone. For more information on silicone bonding and over-molding please see our Silicone Molding Design Manual.
We will provide certification documentation of material used by Albright Technologies as well as a copy of the material manufacturer certification documentation.
